Final Exam 2014
B Flat Scale
D Flat Scale
E Flat Scale
Meditation from Thais (recorded on different day)
Essay:
My favorite piece in class this year was Greensleeves. It was definitely my favorite because I love how it challenged our class as a whole and I think that we all really improved as musicians from it. Also I think it was perfect Christmas-time piece and it has always been special to me. I loved the mini solo that I had at the end and was so sad when our winter concert was cancelled (darn snow!). I think I really started to enjoy band class once we played that piece and felt that the focus was really on concert band and nothing else. I still wish we could have played it for the public, but hopefully I will get to do so another time.

Excerpt: Meditation from Thais, measures 1-16
This year, I am pleased with the progress I have made. I am very glad that I joined band class, and feel that it has helped me immensely as a player and as a person, and is somewhere I can go in school free of stress and drama, where I can just play and no one really asks that much of me. It really is amazing what music can do for one's well-being. I think my tone quality and note accuracy has improved and I am no longer afraid to go for alitissimo notes on my instrument, something that I tried to display in my excerpt. This year I have also learned basic music theory, something that I find very interesting and it's cool to be able to know why music is written or arranged like it is. I also found that music is something I have a great interest in, even though I already knew that through my endless searching of new bands and concerts that I want to go see. Now, I strive to learn even more instruments and hope to pick up the french horn and the flute by next fall. It's amazing to be supported in that change, and I can't wait to get started.
